Leo Chen Joins The Farzy Show | Phillies Even Series | 5/19

First and foremost, Welcome back to The Farzy Show with Marc Farzetta live from Steven Singer Studios, joined today by recent Penn Grad Leo Chen of “Fire Doc Rivers” fame. Marc will talk about the Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers on today’s show.

Beginning with the Eagles, Howie Roseman does it again by signing CB James Bradberry to a $7.5 million contract in Free Agency to compound Darius Slay. Marc reflects on how satisfying it is to see a GM go out and get exactly what the team needs. On the other hand, the Birds still need to answer the question of safety. Bradberry signed with the Birds because, according to him, he loves the “scheme” here in Philly. The star of this year’s Eagles team will be the Defensive Line. After Jalen Hurts’ improvement going into this season, Jonathan Gannon’s “scheme” with a top-ranked defense and how he executes it will make or break this team. Farzy credits Roseman with assembling what seems to be a playoff-ready team.

Next, Farzetta talks about the Phillies serving up a 3-0 shutout back to the San Diego Padres. Zack Wheeler had a stellar start for the Phillies, leading to the win. Wheeler tossed 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, and 9 SO for the Phightins to lead them to victory. Surprisingly, Alverado got the hold, and Knebel pitched four pitches for the save. Rhys Hoskins hit a homer, Odubel Herrera and J.T. Realmuto both got RBIs, and Realmuto made an incredible play in the field to set the tone. Hopefully, the Phillies can complete the series win against the Padres today.

Then, on the Rothman Orthopedic Guest Line, Marc Farzetta is joined by recent Penn Grad Leo Chen, who flashed his phone at graduation with the infamous words “Fire Doc Rivers.” Chen tells how he decided to do it because the other graduates manifesting the Celtics would win their second-round series in seven. Leo and Marc discuss the inflated ego of Doc Rivers. Philly fans do not like phoniness on their teams. Chen compares Brett Brown and Doc Rivers as senior and junior versions of each other from a coaching perspective. The Sixers need to make big moves this off-season, and Marc and Leo both love Bradley Beal as a target. Leo Chen thinks Jay Wright would be the best choice to coach the Sixers. Marc believes Leo may enter the front office one day.

Finally, The Steak and Main sponsors the chat check on Social Media, answering all the fans’ comments and concerns about Philly sports. The conversation lights up about the Eagles signing Bradberry and loving the positive vibes of the Birds’ defense. Marc gets into Sixers talk. He says he would not trade Tyrese Maxey for anything because of his work ethic and mentality. Farzy wants Daryl Morey to go fleece someone in a trade. The bad luck that the Sixers have had in transactions is showing, so work your magic.

On the Morning Rush, brought to you by Sky Motor Cars, the Phillies will have Kyle Gibson on the bump for a 1:05 pm start against Yu Darvish for the Padres. The Phillies will take on the Dodgers at home to finish the week. Subsequently, they will go on a trip to face off against division rival Atlanta for four games.
