Hugh Douglas joins The Farzy Show with Marc Farzetta | Tuesday, July 20th, 2021

Happy Hughsday! Marc is “flat out excited about the Phillies.” Why is Farzy so excited for the second half of the season to get underway? The winning helps but it “propels you to be buyers not sellers at the trade deadline, and the Phillies are in a buyer mentality, as they should be. “It is all here for the taking,” Farzy says.

Farzy talks about the Phillies potentially getting Kris Bryant which would be huge for them moving forward. Marc asks us why we keep asking what the MLB can do to be more appealing to the younger generation. It has not evolved like the other major sports have especially in Philadelphia where basketball has grown in popularity. What do you think of the extra-inning rule? The pace of Play? Change needs to be made with the arrival of social media and society’s ever-shortening attention span. Farzy cannot be more excited to be a Phillies fan.

Farzy wants you all to wish Ben Simmons a happy 25th birthday, before diving deep into what he is now worth as a player, citing his three-time all-star appearances and the fact that he is a top defensive player for the last few seasons but there is one small problem: “He won’t shoot. And in the playoffs, his won’t shoot, will go to even less shooting,” Farzy jokes.

On the Rothman Orthopedics Guest Line, Farzy asks Hugh Lamont Douglas, if he could go back to the day, he first started as a broadcaster what he could tell himself. To which Douglas responded, “people want to hear the x’s and o’s of the game but that was not my style which he thought was just boring.” the advice he was given growing up was to “be yourself” so Hugh has placed more importance on personality and wanted to talk about the game from a fan’s heart. He gets into the trend of new shows that have been steadily growing with Peyton and Eli Manning launching their new alternative show to Monday Night Football, which. Hugh thinks the show will be fantastic, as the Manning brothers “Eat, sleep, and drink this game.”

Douglas believes that the highly critical Philly fans have made him the broadcaster he is today and that if you can succeed in Philly, you can make it anywhere. Hugh dives into the Eagles’ latest developments as preseason is just a week away, with Zach Ertz’s future still up in the air. They then move into the DeShaun Watson potential trade as he faces criminal charges.

Hugh talks about the Atlanta Braves and the way they trail division rivals the Phillies by a mere two games.

Farzy says that there is a lot of talk that goes on during the six-month NFL season as there is only one game a week, and the rest of the time is filled with talking.

During the Morning Rush Segment, brought to you by Sky Motor Cars, the Milwaukee Bucks are on the precipice of their second championship and first in fifty years, as they take on the Phoenix Suns in Game 6 tonight. Farzy would love to see a Game 7 but has been impressed by the Bucks and sees them closing things out tonight.
