Phillies Blow Lead | The Farzy Show 6/15
Ladies and Gents, Welcome back to The Farzy Show with Marc Farzetta! The show that talks all things Philadelphia sports from 6-7 am on weekdays on all platforms. The Phillies blow another save opportunity thanks to Corey Knebel. The Phillies’ chances of beating the Marlins were high behind Rhys Hoskins’ incredible game. However, the Phillies bullpen, especially Knebel, continues to struggle in all situations. They lost by a final score of 11-9. In today’s show, Marc dives into the deep end regarding this match-up between the Phils and the Fish.
At the top, the Phillies blow the lead, and Farzetta highlights the three individuals who angered him from the game.
- #3: J.T. Realmuto. J.T. bungled an easy foul ball behind home plate that would have gotten Aguilar out. It eventually led to Aguilar knocking in two runs to take the lead for the Marlins. The so-called BCIB made a lousy throw in second, which failed. Overall, Realmuto has been struggling in the field and at the plate.
- #2: Corey Knebel. The recent off-season acquisition has been nothing short of disappointing and inconsistent. Knebel is the only closer this season with 10+ saves and more than 15 BBs. The Phillies cannot justify Knebel continuing to close out games for them. Interim Manager Rob Thomson seemed hesitant about the next save opportunity going to Knebel so that a change might come soon.
- #1 Jazz Chisholm Jr. Farzy discusses the shameless celebration the Marlins’ second baseman had rounding all the bases in late-game H.R. Marc does not mind celebrating and emotions flooding in baseball, but this may have greenlit some “chin music.” Celebrations are fine, but not that much.
The Phillies bats were on last night, but for whatever reason, the pitching let them down, especially the bullpen. Hopefully, Zach Eflin’s knee soreness will not keep him out of the Phillies rotation because they will need him.
Next, Farzy discusses the demotion of Mickey Moniak to Triple-A. Lately, the Phils were making a point that they would allow their youths to work out of ruts and get reps at the MLB level. Unfortunately, that courtesy does not extend to Mickey Moniak, but it does to Bryson Stott? The Phillies are Bryce Harper’s franchise in many ways, and the Vegas connection might be more potent than we think when it comes to who is playing and who is not. In the end, Moniak will be back up to the majors; he just needs some everyday play to catch up.
Moreover, Marc discusses his Flyers fandom while highlighting the recent HC offer made to John Tortorella. He is not sure that Tortorella is the right decision and that Barry Trotz might be the better choice. Tortorella does not mince words and is a very intense coach. Farzy sees this situation as if it works, it will be amazing, but if it does not, it will be terrible. The deal is not final, so Flyers fans must wait and see.
Then, the Steak & Main sponsors the chat check on Social Media, answering all the fans’ comments and concerns about Philly sports. The audience discusses their disdain for Phillies pitching outside Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola. The people do not want Knebel to be the closer, and Marc wants to cut Familia immediately. The Farzy Fans agree that solidifying CF would be huge for the Phils. The Phillies need to get some bullpen help. Who do they go for?
Finally, on the Morning Rush, brought to you by Sky Motor Cars, the Phillies take on the Marlins in the finale at 1:05 pm. Kyle Gibson will take the ball and face off against an opener for the Fish. The Phillies need not blow this finale. In NBA Finals news, the Golden State Warriors have a 3-2 series lead and look to supplant the Celtics tomorrow at 9 pm. No Sixers fans should root for the Celtics!
