Phils Lose to Nats | Jordan Hall on the Flyers NHL Draft | 7/7

On this fine Thursday Morning, The Farzy Show with Marc Farzetta returns, featuring NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Jordan Hall. The Flyers have the fifth overall pick in the NHL Draft, which happens tomorrow in Montreal. The Phillies lost Game 2, 3-2, against the Washington Nationals. Another wasted Aaron Nola by the Phils offense. Finally, Kyle Schwarber is absolutely on fire!

At the top, Farzy addresses the elephant in the room, personified as Odubel Herrera. Why is he still on this team? Is there anyone who can play CF? Why can’t the Phillies’ replacements step up? Undoubtedly, Herrera is not the answer. Odubel bungled the play in CF in the 7th inning, and it seems that everyone is waiting for the next mistake. Marc compares the Odubel misplay to Nelson Agholor’s lack of catching. The Phillies bats were silent outside Kyle Schwarber and lost another game to a bad team.

Then, on the Rothman Orthopedics Guest Line, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Hockey correspondent Jordan Hall features on the show to discuss the NHL Draft and the Flyers. Hall believes it’s more likely that the Flyers will acquire Alex DeBrincat over Johnny Gaudreau regarding free agency and trades. DeBrincat would come in a transaction, while Gaudreau would command a $9-10 million a year salary that the Flyers might not be financially able to finesse. Hall believes making the pick is more intelligent and in line with their MO to get younger. Overall, Hall says, “85% of the Flyers make the pick.”

Furthermore, Hall and Farzetta discuss the options the Flyers could pick at the Draft. These drafted players could be in the NHL after a year in the AHL before coming to the League. Jordan believes that Tortorella will give the Flyers direction and bring the best out of his players. His age indicates he is in win-now mode, but the upcoming season will give the Flyers relevance. The fiery head coach and Carter Hart will make them attractive and give the Flyers a formula for success.

Finally, Steak & Main sponsors the chat check on Social Media, answering all the fans’ comments and concerns about Philly sports. The fans and Marc highlight that Schwarber could get to 60 HR this season! The fans discuss issues with streaming Phillies games across the country.

Last but not least, on the Morning Rush, brought to you by Sky Motor Cars, the Phillies are back tonight and still in the WC spot. Bailey Falter gets the start for the Phillies against Joan Adon for the Nationals. Farzetta is looking for Odubel Herrera not to play! Hopefully, someone else will get the opportunity to play at 4:05 PM. In short, Mickey Moniak deserves more consistent play in CF.
