Zach Ertz playing for the Eagles this year? | Mike Sielski joins The Farzy Show with Marc Farzetta | Thursday, July 22nd, 2021

Who’s excited to hear Farzy bring you up to date with the Phillies, Flyers, and even some Eagles!! Yes, it is that time of year again. The Phillies dropped a second consecutive game against the New York Yankees in dramatic fashion, losing a nail-biter in 10 innings 6-5. “The Phillies were just not able to capitalize and the Yankees did,” a disappointed Marc lamenting on Andrew McCutchen’s missed opportunity says. With the loss, the Phillies drop to .500 and are 3.5 games back from the first-place New York Mets in the NL East.

Farzy is amazed at “how clueless MLB players can be sometimes,” as he dives into the tactical errors the Phillies made late in the game. “It will all come down to who can steal the most games,” Farzy warns.

There is some good news for the Eagles, as Zach Ertz will indeed be at training camp which begins August 9th. Will we see Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz as starting tight ends? It all comes down to Jalen Hurts and what he does at quarterback. He has some weapons and this Eagles offense can make some noise.” Farzy excitedly says.

On the Rothman Orthopaedics Guest Line, Farzy welcomes in Philly Inquirer and author of The Rise: Kobe Bryant and the Pursuit of Immortality, which comes out January 11th. Sielski begins by talking about how he got the idea to write an article on what teammates would get Ben Simmons for his birthday. If you haven’t read it yet, you are in for a treat.

As they dive deeper into Ben Simmons and what lies ahead, Sielski said he is “a guy who needs a fresh start.” As Farzy asks him about Simmons’ lack of effort, Sielski responds “I do not know how much of it is a lack of desire to not want to get better and how much of it is not having had the experience in his career where he had someone pushing him to the extent where he needed to be pushed.” Rivers took a different approach then Brett Brown, Sielski argues, extenuating the positives in Simmons’s game. Though Sielski states that “he ended up having the worst offensive season, and completely mentally collapsed in the playoffs so that strategy did not pay off either.”

They wrap up their conversation with Damian Lillard and the likelihood of him coming to the city of brotherly love. “It depends on Damian Lillard. He is the best fit on paper but, will see,” Sielski tells Marc.

After the Phillies won the World Series in 2008, the first championship in Philadelphia in 25 years, what was people’s reaction, asks Sielski. “Win more!” Mike says that the Eagles deserve the banner hanging outside Lincoln Financial and tells Eagles fans to not be so hard on the 2018 Superbowl Champs.

Sielski finishes off with a rant on ESPN’s coverage at the NBA Finals, as they were not shooting the fans outside the stadium but rather individual fans in the arena. If you want to avoid arena incidents, then “stop incentivizing people to do stupid things by putting the spotlight on them,” Sielski says. Read Sielski’s piece on Fairmount Park baseball here.

In the Morning Rush Segment, brought to you by Sky Motor Cars, Farzy talks about the 4-hour 17-minute marathon loss to the Yankees, before their slew of NL East games in the coming weeks. “Now is the time to give them a nice little cushion,” Farzy advises.

Farzy talks about his admiration for Giannis Antetokounmpo as he wishes that Ben Simmons could bring the same level of excitement to Philly.
